Im so chuffed to say that last night both of my little Boiga Nigraceps hatchlings finally fed on defrost pinkies voluntarily and unassisted. Yippee (jumps up and down)
Theyre now 3 months old and its been a slow process. I started them on inch long pieces of tail, assist/force fed eventually as they refused all food items - offered in many ways using lots of different tactics. They are such a slender snake and I followed the advice of other boiga breeders I know. Then slowly increased it to twice weekly, then moved them onto pinkies.
They took ages to feed, each feeding night at around midnight with virtually no light I would gently hold them pop the tail/pinkie into their mouths and just sit and wait motionless until they swallowed. This could take up to 90 minutes(once) but usually around 45-60 minutes. The slightest movement from me and they would spit the food out! But its paid off, the first one Arrioch has been feeding voluntarily and unassisted for a few weeks followed by Imp (as its so naughty!) last night and whats even better is that they both took two pinkies last night too, for the first time. Im just so chuffed that I wanted to share.
More good news. My female adult nigriceps has given me another 3 eggs today, woohoo.

Another update. They are both starting to change colours on their heads, its only faint and has been evident in the last week. They are about 5-6 months old now ( I thin it was November they hatched) and growing nicely, taking 3 pinkies at a time. I will post as the colours continue to change so we can have a record of how long it takes them to completely change colours.
My next clutch is bulging at the seams now, they look like they may hatch quicker than the last clutch. Theyve been incubating for almost 80 days now.

Hi angi, that´s nice to hear. My young nigriceps all have a different colour and I´m very curious to see what colour they will get in time. Mine are eating sort of well...
