To celebrate our 50th member we are running a competition. Simply post a photograph of your favourite pet ( any pet), members will get to vote for their favourite photograph in 10 days time, the poll will run for 1 week after that. The winner will be the photograph with the most votes and will win a years subscription to Reptile Care Magazine. RULES To keep the competition open to everyone we are allowing it to be of any pet - as we are aware that not everyone is able to actually obtain or keep a Boiga. This competition is open to all members, including staff apart from myself. You are allowed to enter a maximum of 3 photographs. By entering your photograph into the competition you are agreeing to have your photograph published within the Gallery pages of Reptile Care magazine and on its website. please keep your photographs a reasonable size so that we can see them on this page ( The magazine may require an unaltered version of your photograph for publising purposes( 300dpi/at least 1,500x2000pixels, preferably full sized) The photograph must be taken by you.
So get your photographs in by 12 noon GMT on Monday 23rd April. The poll should start on Tuesday 24th April at the latest and winner will be anounced and notified by email on the 1st of May.

My favorite species in my collection is without a doubt Boiga tanahjampeana. To choose the favorite pet, I'd have to choose between the 2 females. They actually look pretty much the same. I hope some other will place there pictures here. You to Chris, I've seen some nice ones from you to. It would be a shame if this initiative goes to waste. Jelmer

Wow, Jelmer I love your Boiga tanahjampeana, would like to see a LOT more of them, just beautiful. - Could I be cheeky and ask if you could post a bit about them - temperments, how you keep them, what they are feeding on and how you find feeding them etc. It would help us all learn. Maybe we could create a new page for you to dedicate to them on the main part of the website? ? Chris I love the way you have managed to capture the eyes and tongue on yours. Lets hope some others will enter.

Hello,
Sure I can share some information. In comparence to other Boiga species this species sooner has the will to flee. They do bite sometimes though, especially at night. This species feeds very well.I have had 6 specimens in total, and all of them fed well on mice. This species is pretty strong too in my opinion. My male had a prolaps a few weeks ago, probaly after mating with at least one of the females. After treatment by the vet, the snake fed within a week while the stitches where still there. I keep al specimens seperate in different sized encosures. An example is 60x60x100. Basicly I don't house them any different then a mangove snake.
Offcourse more info can be found on the website...
I'm always in for ideas like that. Pleasse email (website) or pm me to discuss any details.
I'll post some more tanahjampeana pictures soon.
Kind regards,
Jelmer
