Hi everyone. Im hoping someone can point me in the direction of a good first boiga. I would love to keep B. Cyanea but have heard plenty of horror stories of captives appearing to thrive and just dying. Im also aware that CB hatchlings are hard if not near impossible to come by.
Im not a new keeper with five years experience under my belt now and i generally take a lot of pride in the husbandry skills ive learnt along the way.
Would there be an easier snake to start with? irregularis maybe?
Thanks for any advice.

Hi there Ive found B.nigraceps easiest so far out of - cyanea, gemmicincta, blandingii, drapiezii and cynodon. Im sure we can be here to help you through every step and offer support. What other species do you have experience with?

Thanks admin. previous experience includes garters, corns, royal pythons and more recently amazon tree boas. Ive deffinately got used to more aggressive snakes whilst keeping the ATBs but i dont want to progress onto huge boas or pythons. Ive always had a thing for B.Cyanea but told myself to wait until i thought i could deal with one. I now think the time has come. With regards the nigriceps i havent seen much of these but they look just as stunning. I also noticed you hatched some babies. Congrats. You have any for sale?

Im not selling my hatchlings at present, I need to get them feeding regularly and nicely grown on, but I already have two friends who I would swap boigas with, sorry. I will let you know if we get any for sale.

i've got a pair of captive bred early 06 adult boiga cyaneas and they are amazing mate! they feed great i am currently feeding them on 2 defrost mice a week to fatten them up to breed them. they arn't that aggressive only if you move too fast, too loud, too nervous or stress them will they strike and they do have a good strike range so just handle with care i think is a must with all boigas. overall these snakes are stunning and i enjoy them even more than my steve via jem 7v guitar . good luck mate!
