Hi I've just taken some pics of one of my thrasops, the female, which is a nightmare as she is always on the move, watching you from various positions, checking you out, fake charging and some time just going for gold and in full attack/ defense mode, all in the space of 30 sec. I love these snakes. Hope you all enjoy them. Wil.

I have had 3 specimens of this species in my House for a long time. They belong to a friend. It was quite a challenge sometimes handling a snake of this species. It has always amazed me how fast they can kill an adult mouse, without any form of constricting the prey. This in one off the rear fanged species of snakes that might one day turn out to be more dangerous then people thought.
Great snakes with really cool behaviour! Nice pics too!
Are you planning to breed this species? i see you female hasn't turned totally black yet.
Cheers,
Jelmer

Hi Jelmer
totally agree with you very fast and quite possible almost as potent as the boomslang, thats why I only handle them with gloves.
Just as well really as both of the males have tagged my gloved hand, in seperate strikes and both went for the same spot, the fleshy skin between the thumb and the index finger, scary.
I certainly will be trying and get theses guys breeding. I love them.

Hi guys,
For the last two days one of my male Thrasops has been tring to mate with my female. Following closely wrapping his tail around her's and rubbing up and down her .
I couldn't see if he managed to penetrate her, (though he was at her for hours). Didn't want to take any photos as I might of disturbed them. So hopefully she succumbed to his charmes.
Well I shall keep my fingers crossed, hers to the waiting game.
Wil.

He has stopped chasing her now, so now it's a waiting game. I certainly agree with you there, as juvenilies they are lovely. I have noticed that "Lafarmetropicale" near Paris have recently hatched some. www.lafermetropicale.com/Wil.

They don't have any for sale, but the supplier of La Ferme has told them Thrasops are back on the menu (so to speak).
I've been in contact as I'm trying to get hold of some at the moment.
